We own our own truck in France and take 2 trips annually to gather the chairs that we have committed to from many different sources. On a typical trip we drive 4000 miles in just 3 weeks. France is not that big a country, so you know that we get around! Every chair/pair is picked, packed, transported to storage, inventoried, measured and wrapped for the container by us personally. We load our own containers, not just supervising, but actually in the back of the 40 foot high cube container hand-lifting (with a crew) every single piece. We don’t just supervise, William personally places each piece.

One at a time, One year of great finds all together, wrapped for voyage.
The wrapped chairs are protected further with layers of cardboard against the corrugated sides of that huge metal box. Our chairs are protected from each other and every other treasure we find to stuff our container and delight our clients. We value these beautiful, sumptuous, practical pieces of history and prefer to handle them ourselves as much as possible during their voyage from France to your home.

When you purchase from us in the United States or Canada, we use one of several blanket wrapped specialists to insure they arrive to your home or business in good order. The difference with the companies we work with is that they maintain custody of your chairs for the entire trip, all the better to guarantee their safety and original condition. We insure them with no deductible to impress upon the handlers that they are fully responsible for the chairs & maintaining their condition.

Landed treasures, prepping for blanket wrapped shipment to your home!
We endeavor to describe all of the details of a particular chair/pair to each perspective client. We believe that it is our duty to help you understand the nuances and personality of each chair. Are these chairs in perfect condition? Nope. If perfection is important to you, vintage chairs might not be the best choice. What our chairs do have is provenance, with age-earned honorable wounds (nicks, rubs, scratches, sometimes repairs). This is all part of the history and character of welcoming vintage French Club Chairs. We tend to use the term “ age appropriate wear”, with the goal that you the client fully understand the condition and wonderful nuances that make these survivors of another era so special.
